What do you care for the most when reading a book (character development, plot, world building etc)? 📚 I think my views on the subject evolved these past few years. Before that plot was king. Nowadays, character development and world building come first. I can even forgive plot holes if the characters are interesting enough. I can also forgive the lack of action or a slow pace, which is, I think, where a lot of authors nowadays go wrong. In their quest to supply you with WOW moments they forget those WOW moments are WOW because you care about the characters. One of my biggest pet peeves these days is the action opening chapter. Oh God! Can we please move away from that? Especially in fantasy books that require a lot of world building? If you are a good enough writer your characters and amazing world will keep me entertained till the action starts. If not, no amount of action will save your book (that is not to say there are no authors that can successfully open with action – just look at Dan Brown or Rick Riordan; that being said, it is a rare gift). 📚 I feel this mistake is also perpetuated by the publishers themselves, who seek to turn books into a semicinematic experience. But the thing is, no matter how hard you try, in books you don't have special effects to distract you from the lack of substance. Paper thin characters thrown in there just to fit a role are becoming a plague. Am I the only one thinking this? 📑 📑 📑 #tgif #bookstagram #friyay #theweekoninstagram #book #flatlaynation #flatlaystyle #styleblogger #leggere #amolivros #myeverydaymagic #poetryporn #lifestylephotography #creativelife #livebeautifully #authorsofinstagram #bookworld #bookcommunity #writerslife #bookstagrammer #bookgasm #leserate #bookstagramfeatures #artshub #pursuepretty

What is your favorite Hunger Games book/movie/character? 📚 Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where the dead man called out For his love to flee Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met at midnight In the hanging tree. 📚 I've been listening to that song all day. Actually, that song is the reason I decided to post this. I took this pic a few weeks ago but every time I looked at it I thought to myself: it looks like a chicken.😆 But I realized that I never had a Hunger Games themed post, despite the fact that I was obsessed with the series a while back. When it comes to rankings, I love the first THG book the most. It is the complete opposite if we talk movies: the last two films, as a whole, are pure perfection. They are a stunning depiction of war and loss and the human capacity to endure. I know a lot of people disagree, but oh well… Oh, and I might have decided to post this also because it represents the Mockingjay… or Mockingjames 😏 … ok, imma stop. I don't know why I keep trying with the puns.🙈 📚 Who is ready for the weekend? Any special plans, guys? 📑 📑 📑 #thehungergames #friyay #thg #hungergames #bookhaul #mockingjay #flatlays #wings #poemsporn #katnisseverdeen #ya #livros #bookstagram #katniss #peeta #catchingfire #suzannecollins #bookblogger #lecturedumoment #小説 #book #lifestylephotography #artists #buku #lectores
